Roanoke Valley Governor’s STEM announces school category award winners at the 2017 Western Virginia Regional Science and Engineering Fair

On Saturday, March 4, over 100 gifted and talented students from the school districts of Roanoke City and Roanoke County, plus the Roanoke Valley Governor’s School, competed in the 2017 Western Virginia Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Hollins University.


The following Craig County High School students received top awards in their categories at the regional fair:

Seth Helm, 2nd Place, Plant Science

“The Effect of Nostoc Commune (Cyanobacteria) on Alfalfa Root Growth and Development”

Olivia Menezes, 4th Place, Plant Science

“Development of an Aeroponic System with Carbon Dioxide Supplied by Fermentation”
